A Fastener is a mechanical device, permanent or non-permanent, that firmly joins or fastens two surfaces or items. Non-permanent fasteners are easier to remove and doesn't harm the materials they've linked. Permanent fasteners may need considerable force to be removed , which at times harm the linked surfaces. Permanent fasteners are made to provide a long-lasting, reliable method of secure connection.Fasteners are the most popular tools for fabricating, producing, and assembling a range of items and industrial machinery.
Tesco manufactures and supplies different sizes, types, and combinations of high quality and cost effective fasteners, such as screws, nails, nuts, bolts, and washers.

Fasteners Materials and Their Properties
Fasteners are manufactured from a variety of materials, each with its own unique properties and advantages. The choice of material depends on the application, operating conditions, and budget constraints.
Carbon Steel
Carbon steel Fasteners are the most common choice due to their affordability, durability, and resistance to corrosion. They are suitable for a wide range of applications, including oil and gas pipelines, water treatment plants, and power generation.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel Fasteners are highly resistant to corrosion, making them ideal for applications where the pipeline carries corrosive fluids or is exposed to harsh environments. They are commonly used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries.
Alloy Steel
Alloy steel Fasteners offer excellent strength, durability, and resistance to high temperatures. They are commonly used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications, such as in the oil and gas industry.
Copper Nickel
Copper nickel Fasteners are known for their excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, making them suitable for marine and offshore applications. They are widely used in shipbuilding, desalination plants, and offshore oil rigs.
Other Materials
Other materials used for Fasteners manufacturing include brass, bronze, cast iron, and various exotic metals. Each material has its own unique properties and is chosen based on the specific requirements of the application..
Factors to consider while selecting Fastener
When selecting the right Fasteners for your piping system, there are several factors to consider. These include:
Material
The material of the fastener should be compatible with the material of the pipe and the fluid or gas being transported.
Size
The size of the fastener should match the size of the pipe to ensure a secure and leak-free connection.
Pressure Ratings
The fastener should be rated to handle the maximum pressure of the piping system.
Temperature Ratings
The fastener should be rated to handle the maximum temperature of the piping system.
Corrosion Resistance
The fastener should be corrosion-resistant to ensure that it will not corrode over time, which could lead to leaks and other safety hazards.
Fasteners Manufacturing Process
There is more than one process used to produce nuts, bolts, clips, screws, and all other fastener types.Machining, cold forging, and hot forging are the three techniques that are employed most frequently. (These are methods that are frequently used to manufacture and create metal parts.)
Machining
Metals can be deformed through the machining process to produce parts and components. It is possible to bend and shape a piece of metal by cutting, drilling, twisting, milling, and grinding it until it fits the required pattern or form. In contrast to molding and casting, machining involves working the metal at room temperature or a little bit higher. Heat is not involved in the process, even though the metal may heat up as a result of friction.
Machining begins with a round or hexagonal piece of metal. The metal piece, known as the workpiece, is threaded and shanked throughout the machining process to conform to the specified geometry of the finished product. A computer numerical control (CNC) machine is used for machining, which allows many processes to be carried out simultaneously. This aids in speeding up the process.
The benefits of machining include precision, exceptional tolerances, and the ability to produce complex geometries. It is a time consuming process that is ideal for short runs of minimal quantities.
Cold Forging
Due to its efficiency and low waste, cold forming, also known as cold roll forming, is the most used process for producing fasteners. Similar to machining, it is carried out at or near room temperature to quickly, effectively, consistently, and affordably make vast quantities of fasteners.
Cold forming begins with a coil of wire that has been treated, straightened, and sheared to the length needed by the finished product. To finish the forming process and add precise and accurate details, the produced pieces are fed into a rolling machine. The workpiece is subjected to pressure, which preserves the metal's original grain structure and increases the fastener's tensile strength.
Hot Forging
When machining or cold forming are unable to produce fasteners, hot forging is used. The heating of the workpiece is a crucial component in hot forging. The workpiece is heated throughout the heating process to its recrystallization temperature, which can reach 1200° C or 2192° F.
The metal's grain structure is broken down and homogenized into a finer grain during the forming and shaping process, which improves the metal's strength, ductility, and toughness. Hot forging is one of the most effective ways to create metal because it generates less scrap and waste.
Application of Fasteners
Fasteners are used in various industrial piping applications, including:
Oil and Gas Industry
Fasteners are commonly used in oil and gas piping systems, where they are used to transport crude oil, natural gas, and other petroleum products.
Chemical Processing Industry
Fasteners are used in chemical processing plants to transport various chemicals and materials.
Water Treatment Industry
Fasteners are used in water treatment plants to transport water and other fluids.
Power Generation Industry
Fasteners are used in power generation plants to transport steam, gas, and other fluids.
